McKee started selling 5-cent snack cakes from the back of his 1928 Whippet. In 1934, he and his wife, Ruth, bought a small, failing bakery, using their family car as collateral. Despite the financial challenges, their unwavering determination eventually paid off in 1960 when they began selling the first family pack of baked goods, naming them after their granddaughter, Debbie.

Around this time, the company started making a steady profit, and it continued to grow while remaining a family-owned business. O.D. and Ruth's sons, Ellsworth and Jack, eventually took on leadership roles, and today, Ellsworth and Jack's children hold key positions within the company. McKee Foods stands as a living legacy of a young couple with a big dream, and their strong commitment to family values remains the foundation of our company today.

Brand History

In 1960, McKee Foods founder O.D. McKee was looking for a catchy name for their new family-pack cartons of snack cakes. Inspired by a photo of his 4-year-old granddaughter Debbie in play clothes and her favorite straw hat, he decided to use the name "Little Debbie" and her image on the logo. It wasn't until the first cartons were being printed that Debbie's parents, Ellsworth and Sharon McKee, discovered that their daughter was the namesake of the new brand.

Ingredients: - 1 Carton Little Debbie Zebra Cakes - 6 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream - 1/3 Cup Cold Milk - Whipped Cream - Decorative Toppings of Choice
